There has been much talk recently about Las Vegas casinos not being as attractive to tourists as they once were. People pointed to ultra-low room rates during the Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend, saying that the city might be losing its shine.
That’s not the case, according to the latest visitor profile from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. While the cost of visiting Sin City remains sky-high, people are still coming in droves, especially individuals who have been there before.
average lodging costs hit a record $179.10 per night
The 41.7 million arrivals’ average lodging costs hit a record $179.10 per night in 2024, and the average spend on food and drink rose to $615.07, compared to the pre-pandemic figure of $410.74 in 2019.
Approximately 14% of first-time visitors to Las Vegas in 2024 were first-timers, significantly lower than the 25% level in 2019.
The latest figures provide other interesting insights, including the fact that the average age of visitors is getting lower. This reflects recent findings from the American Gaming Association (AGA), which stated that the average age at commercial casinos nationwide last year was 42, compared to 50 in 2019.
